Prairie Spirit Trail 50 Miler

This was my first official 50 miler in my homestate of Kansas. We ran from Ottawa to Garnett and back. Once again we couldn't have had more perfect weather! It wasn't too cold with only a few clouds. No real elevation gain and we ran on a gravel bike path the whole time. Eric Steele (CEO of EPIC ULTRAs) Was amazing and at the prerace dinner he stopped to talk to everyone including myself. Not only that but he personally handed out the finishers buckles and stickers to all the racers! THAT is a first for me and it made it really special. My only real complaint (which it isn't a serious one) is that during ultras I am used to having more dense food at aid stations and other than the Garnett aid station the food was more of snacks and candy. So I struggled with getting enough calories during the first 25 miles. So my learned lesson is to make sure to pack more dense food for myself in my drop bags just in case aid station food isn't quite enough. Ya live and learn haha. I look forward to doing more EPIC ULTRA races in the future and I HIGHLY recommend these races to everyone especially beginning ultra runners like myself. Thank you for the hard work Eric and volunteers! You guys were amazing and supportive! Anyways I'm going to wrap this up with some pictures. I will elaborate on the course and my experience a little more later. Sorry to talk you all to death.

(YAY FINALLY DONE!)
(Motivational quotes the volunteers slipped into the drop bags at the halfway mark. It was an awesome surprise.)
